In 13 I note the extent that Abraham was willing to go to for peace. He gave Lot first pick of the best rather than continue with strife in his family, and God blessed that by allowing it to be the way all the "ooo! shiny!" warped stuff in the valley wouldn't be what Abraham had to live with. Hm.
In 14 we have the tribal war of sorts, with Abraham getting to be Super-Abe and rescuing Lot, then not taking the loot even when it was offered to him because his allegiance was to God. What an enigma he must have seemed to them! Can you imagine the blank looks?
And then 15 - wow! One of the main events of the entire Bible, the covenant with God. I note here that it isn't all rose-petals and dewdrops - a great terror and the info that his kin would be enslaved, yikes! Not much here for those who would say any encounter with God is a warm and fuzzy one, sometimes the truth eats rocks, but it's still the truth and has a reason for happening. - Amy
For two days I have tried to figure out how to post a comment. I hope this is the right place. Please let me know.
