I once stumbled upon a very legalistic manual for properly running a 'Christian Household' and leafed through it in morbid fascination. I remember this verse: "Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain" because it was given as a reason why it was okay for a woman who was cooking a meal for her family to nibble the food while she was working in the kitchen, rather than giving her husband the first portion. Obviously this made an impression on me, though admittedly not a good one.
Some good stuff in here, and some things that stand my hair on end. Onward!
